Bravo Capsule
The Bravo capsule is used to quantitate the severity of GERD. During an EGD, a small capsule may be temporarily affixed to the lining of the lower esophagus. There, it stays in place for 48 hours to wirelessly transmit the pH (level of acidity) of the lower esophagus to a recording device that’s worn outside the body and, later, returned to the office. The Bravo capsule detaches from the lower esophagus and passes through the GI tract and into the toilet.
